نہیں کہ اپنا زمانہ بھی تو نہیں آیا
ہمیں کسی سے نبھانا بھی تو نہیں آیا
جلا کے رکھ لیا ہاتھوں کے ساتھ دامن تک
تمہیں چراغ بجھانا بھی تو نہیں آیا
نئے مکان بنائے تو فاصلوں کی طرح
ہمیں یہ شہر بسانا بھی تو نہیں آیا
وہ پوچھتا تھا مری آنکھ بھیگنے کا سبب
مجھے بہانہ بنانا بھی تو نہیں آیا
وسیمؔ دیکھنا مڑ مڑ کے وہ اسی کی طرف
کسی کو چھوڑ کے جانا بھی تو نہیں آیا

nahi ke apna zamana bhi to nahi aaya
hamein kisi se nibhana bhi to nahi aaya
jala ke rakh liya hathon ke sath daman taq
tumhe chairag bujhana bhi to nahi aaya
naye makaan banaye to fasloon ki terhan
hamein yeh shehar basaanaa bhi to nahi aaya
woh puchta tha meri aankh bhigne ka sabab
mujhe bahana banana bhi to nahi aaya
Waseem daykhna murr murr ke woh isi ki taraf
kisi ko chore ke jana bhi to nahi aaya

ऐसा नहीं कि उसका समय नहीं आया
हम किसी को स्नान करने भी नहीं आए
हाथ पैर तक जल गए
तुम भी दीपक जलाने नहीं आए
दूरियों की तरह नए घर बनाएं
हमें यह भी पता नहीं था कि इस शहर का निर्माण कैसे किया जाता है
वह पूछता था कि मृत आंख क्यों गीली हो गई
मुझे यह भी नहीं पता था कि बहाने कैसे बनाते हैं
वसीम उसकी तरफ देखने लगा
मैं किसी को भी छोड़ना नहीं चाहता था


Not that his time did not come
We didn't even come to bathe anyone
Burned with hands up to the feet
You didn't even come to light the lamp
Build new houses like distances
We didn't even know how to build this city
He used to ask why the dead eye got wet
I didn't even know how to make excuses
Wasim turned to look at him
I didn't even want to leave anyone
